About TengoInternet
Once a traveler far from home, immersing himself in the culture and language in Mexico, Eric Stumberg found comfort in the words "Tengo Internet" in response to an inquiry for Internet service in cafés and other establishments. The words indicate Internet service is available.
On a career hiatus after leaving Round Rock-based Dell Computer Corp. and relying on the Internet to stay in contact with family and friends and his business interests, Stumberg gained a better understanding of the value of people staying connected.
His background was in product marketing and wireless services, but it wasn’t until his brother asked him the right question that Stumberg was ready to make his move. Both staying in the family home following a funeral, Stumberg’s brother asked, “Why not do it yourself?,” when discussing the market opportunity Eric envisioned of enabling people to work where they want with fast, convenient Internet access.
“That was the moment I knew,” says Stumberg, President, CEO and Co-founder of Texas-based wireless Internet services company TengoInternet, Inc.
He called Marty Heaner, CTO and Co-founder, and said, “We have to do this,” and within weeks, TengoInternet was started. The company was founded in the fall of 2001. |
