Why Go Wireless?
Customers are continuing to demand more amenities from their travel experiences and wireless, high-speed Internet access (a.k.a. Wi-Fi) is at the top of the list. According to Woodall’s Campground Management, the leading information source for the private campground sector, "consumers are becoming increasingly accustomed to high-speed Internet service...and with the recent introduction of Wi-Fi technology, and the plethora of news articles across the country that talk about the benefits of high-speed wireless Internet access, consumers are quickly becoming impatient with simple modem connections or even telephone access…They want high-speed wireless access…and they want it now."
Many hotels across the country have already added Wi-Fi service to address the high demand and allow guests to use their laptops virtually anywhere in the hotel without being tethered to a phone line. While some hotels offer the service as a free amenity, others charge a small daily use fee.
Among RV enthusiasts, Wi-Fi service is a campground amenity that cannot be overlooked and often is even more important than having access to a swimming pool. RVers enjoy the same Internet tasks—online banking, conducting business, online research and e-mail communication—as non-RVers, even to a higher extent as they desire to stay in touch with family, friends and business associates while home on the road.
